Will this cat work on my 98 Cherokee?
https://m.autozone.com/emission-cont...1509_5320?aqs=
New jeep owner here. I bought a 98 cherokee with 170k for $1000. Couldn’t pass the deal. The cat before the muffler rattles a lot. So before I even take it to get smogged I want to put a new cat on it. Will this cat from autozone work? I know I’ll have to get it welded. Anyone ever buy this one? Will the o2 sensor screw right in? Need some advice from my fellow jeep owners. Thanks!

You don't have to weld it, stated it's a slip fit, but, no 02 sensor bung, that would need to be welded in.
I replaced mine a while back, and went with a Walker direct fit. Here's a link

Just shop around for the part number online, it was more expensive, but it's an OE replacement that just bolts in, worked like a charm. Hardest part was getting the old converter out.

Thanks for the response. But isn’t this the o2 bung?

That's what the info link says. In fact it's called a CalCat.
"C.A.R.B. Compliant
Walker ® CalCat ® Catalytic Converters comply with specific pre-OBDII and OBDII requirements in the state of California. They feature the RIGHT loading of precious metals, the proper catalyst material and design, and a high-technology washcoat, providing enhanced oxygen storage capacity."
