Yes run one, it's the law and the responsible thing to do. Any benefits without one would be minimal and not worth the cost of not running one.

Not that i'm reccomending it, but back home in the farming town the local garage guy would take a spade drill bit (modified longer) and drill out Cats so that tecnically they were still installed but the air just passed straight through.

Look.. Guys who are thinking about running no cat or emptying your cat. The cat serves a great purpose for emissions. It burns up any remaining gas that didn't get burned in the engine. It's meant to help keep emissions down. If everyone goes and runs no cat then our kids won't have woods to muddin in when they get old. Keep the cats guys. Not going to give you enough performance to make it worth killing our planet. Just my 2 pennies on the subject.

without one youll probably run rich, and it doesnt affect performance at all. if anything, itll worsen, youre exhaust gas velocity goes down, and you loose low end powa

X2 to what they said!

Just put a good quaility high flow cat on, and be happy, and enjoy the great outdoors.

when i first got my 89 i ran it without a cat seems the previous owner had taken it out, i realized this when i had to do the smog check. runiing without one does give u alot of torque and acceleration but like 89pioneer said, its not worth killing our planet over.

oye, back to this conv, does'nt this always end in a fight, one law depends where you live, it cant be used as a blanket statement, 2 if your too poor and yours is shot your better off either taking it off till you get a new one, or leaving it off all together and replacing it with pipe, 3im not saying that emmisions dont matter, but if you look at the research, you cant find an actual thing saying a couple guys running no cat is gonna ruin our world,4 as long as you replace the cat with i pipe you wont hurt performance, BUT if you have emmisions stuff to and after the cat you will ruin your jeep in one way or another.
