Default wierd, non emergancy insight...

90 XJ 4 door ltd. Sitting at work, doing my best to avoid my irritating wife....yes wife. Got to wondering why, when I come to a stop, I don't have the solid stop. It seems as though the chassis stops before the body, there's a second lurch. That's the only way I know to describe it. i changed the passenger sid emotor mount a couple of weeks ago, the drivers seemed like a huge pain in the a$$ so I didn't (taking suggestions about an easier way) the tranny mount seems OK, but I'm not even sure how to check it. Any ideas??

How's the rear suspension and bushings? Sounds to me like either your motor mount or one or more bushings are very worn.

First off your body and chassis is one in the same on an XJ so its definitely not that. I agree with a bad busching or loose bolt in the rear suspension somewhere causing this second lurch while braking symptom.

Leaf spring bushings, Broken shock and or mount, broken center pin on leaf spring(personal experience). Best bet is too get a Haynes, chilton, or a Factory Service Manual and start checking everything underneath.

HA! That'll cure the "irritating" part but what about the technical issue?
