got a 96 xj 4.0 litre that is giving me some wierd starting problems, please help me. here goes, i've done new dist, new cap and rotor plugs and wires, new cold air kit, new muffler, new fuel pump, new crank pos sens over the past few months..still the only way to get it to start the first time is to cycle the key on/off 4 times (which cycles the fuel pump), if i don't cycle the key then it won't start unless i hold the throttle to the floor, even then it cranks real wierd like the timing is off. Once started however it runs great???? thinking about fuel press reg but that's another 60 bucks and almost out of money and patience...arghhhhhhh

You may have answered your own question,but i would check fuel pressure first,thats were i would start,pump runs off key or on Bra
