It kind of looks like there's a seal behind the crank shaft pulley and it's leaking oil. Anyone ever do one of these? it looks bad but i only lost a quart over 3,000 miles. I thought maybe it was the trans cooler lines but i'm pretty sure it's coming from that seal. i also get a little squeal when i start it which now makes sense if there's oil getting on the belt.

Yep, there is a seal behind where the CS pulley (harmonic balancer) sits. To replace it, you will have to remove the crankshaft pulley and peel out the old seal. When you do this, consider replacing the CS pulley itself as well....look for deterioration of the rubber in bewteen the two ' layers' of the pulley. Signs of this rubber wearing/moving out is a wobble while the pulley is spinning, or the pulley slightly moving towards the radiator side...

I think I have the same thing going on. While doing my head swap I noticed some rubber sticking out of the crank pulley... How much of a PITA is this thing to change and what is the actual part called?

There are write ups on the net. The removal of the pulley will require a puller. Without it, you will be busy all day, if succesfull at all. I believe it's called the crankshaft oil seal, but could be wrong. And yes, rubber sticking out is a sign it should be replaced.

Last one I replaced, I had the old one out and the new one in, in under 20 min. Pretty easy, as long as you have the right tool.

Was that including the engine swap or without?

Harmonic balancer puller and you do not need to remove the radiator.

Here's what a failing balancer looks like.

You can get the harmonic balancer tool at the major parts stores with a loan-a-tool program. The tool will let you pull it and put it back on. No, I did not have to pull the radiator.
