i have to fill my radiator every day sometimes a little sometimes a lot i cannot pinpoint my leak however it seems to be dripping in the middle so im thinking it might be a water pump problem or my thermostat? how can i tell if it is the pump it stays cool when i drive and does not over heat but yet i am always having to fill both radiator and res. i need to make an eight hour drive can i do it with whatever is leaking

There's a little hole in the water pump called a "weep hole" that will start leaking if the pump is near to failure. In this case it will drip down so it appears to be coming from the front of the engine.

If you haven't done any maintenance (like a new thermostat or hoses or anything like that), it's likely that this is the weep hole and means you should change the water pump ASAP. If you have had a new t-stat or hoses or something and the leaking started shortly afterwards, it could be an improperly installed part or loose hose clamp.

You can rent a cooling system pressure tester (free with deposit) at your local auto parts store and that will let you put pressure on the system and find a leak if it the latter.

If your water pump is suspect (which I tend to think it is), I would certainly replace the water pump before taking it on an 8-hour trip. If the water pump seals give out you will lose A LOT of coolant very very quickly and find yourself stuck on the side of the road.

Yep,, for all we know its a 2018 jeep. Then we assume its an XJ.. The OP takes his Jeep to the dealer and says CF told me its the weep hole.
Now I know its not a 2018,,but hell,, op is the only one to know that..lol

Now if its an XJ it could be a lot of stuff..

water pump gasket
water pump weep hole
hose leaking (needs to be tighten)
bad hose needs replacing
thermostat housing leaking(gasket)

OP needs to take his noggin and start looking.

I'd be pretty ticked off if I had a 2018 that was leaking anything...

On a positive note - at least it sounds like the O.P. is leaking coolant in a way that they see it externally - rather than the "I keep adding coolant to my 01 I6 and there's no sign of a leak..."

Default where is my leak

hello all my apologies for the lack of info
i have a 1993 grand cherokee 5.2 four wheel drive jeep that has a leak .... im suspecting it may be the water pump but im not sure . i have to fill the radiator and sometimes the resevoir each time i drive it and when i get to where im going and it cools down i have to fill again . sometimes i have to fill it alot sometimes a little . when it actually drips it looks to be in the center of the vehicle dripping from the top and running down through the center i have replaced the radiator twice the water pump once almost a year ago. so everything is fairly new . it never really runs hot my guage does work because the temp rises but it never goes above normal range when she runs she rides like a dream i just need to figure out this leak because i have an eight hour trip i need to make and not a lot of money right now to make repairs
thanks for all of your help
