Default Where is the Engine oil going?

Ok well I have 1994 XJ Sport. I've noticed this problem the past couple of weeks. I'll fill the oil up to where it should be. Then in a couple of weeks later its low really low. I'm not noticing any spots on the ground on my white driveway. Nor am I seeing smoke to indicate burning. So my question what could be happening. I'm stumped. (don't know if this means anything but when I fill the oil I can hear it drain into the oil pan from the top.)

I would thoroughly wash your engine to get rid of all the oil and grime. Then check it every few days or so to see where it's leaking from. It is very possible that it only leaks when the pressure is high enough i.e. while driving and you will never see spots on the ground.

check the color of the plugs and run a cylinder compression check this might indicate if it is burning it

wouldn't I notice some residual dripping. I had a 240sx that would spray oil everywhere when i was driving. It was a mess. Plus this is a freshly rebuilt motor so the block is clean as a whistle. I'll keep an eye out for wet spots I'm just stumped..

I haven't noticed a burnt oil smell. You might be right no the rings not being seated the amount of oil I'm going through is about a quart a week. (not bad compared to my old motor). I just want to make sure I'm not having an issue I'm not aware of. It's my first jeep

Hopefully that is your problem. I know that it can take some time to have everything to seat depending how much you drive it. I know that it took my 1965 Chevy P/U took almost 2 years for everything to seat. But I only drove it maybe about 2 miles a month if that.
