Default What gears do YOU run with 33in tires?

Just wondering b/c I'm thinking of switching. I've got a 88 with a 4.0 and am currently running 3.73 gears with 33in tires. I would like to tow a small travel trailer and am trying to find the best combo.

Thanks!

89 4.0 Auto running 4.10s. if i had to do it over, i probably would have gone 4.56s but getting 20 mpg on the highway with a lifted truck is nice.

3.07s! with 33s 5 speed. No need to use 5th gear anymore except going downhill over 60mph.

I say go 4:88's and be done with it. Freeways are overrated.

I'm guessing it's Engine RPM, trans at 1:1 ,(not in OD) at 60 mph or something like that.

Thanks Noel86. I was just looking for that. I was looking for the power band chart because I am looking at regearing, I just can't decide if I want to spent the money on it. We will found out today when I put the new 31's on.

regearing is the best money ive ever spent on the Heep
98' auto on 32's w 4.56's i get around 17 mpg in town and about 20 to 24 mpg highway as long as im not going 75....
at 65 in OD i sit at about 2750 RPM
at 75 in OD i sit at 3100 RPM
but have power to spare going up hills
being loaded up for a weeks camping (750lbs, probably more) and passing cars going up the pass is nice.

So I guess 4.56's really are the way to go, huh?

if your auto, and not going bigger than 33" tires, go 4.56's
if manual, go 4.10's
In my experience go one deeper than what you wanted cause you'll which you had.....so if ya want 4.10's go with 4.56's, you'll be happier in the long run.

I'm agreeing with 4.56's. Nice little compromise. Good MPG, Power, and wiggle room for 35" tires.
