It's truly sad that in 10 years of this forum, no one person has done a write-up of checking and/or replacing all the vacuum lines on an XJ.
I would love to just replace every vacuum line on the XJ, but there's no info anywhere. Incredible.

What? It's really simple. So simple it doesn't need a write up

For once I agree with you.

Not so much showing how to physically replace vacuum lines but just a vacuum line diagram that shows every single vacuum line in its stock configuration and the purpose each line serves.

Here you go, crybabies...

The last one is Renix-specific I do believe, but they are very similar across all years.

I would love to just plan for 6 weeks to replace every vacuum line on the XJ, finally decide to tackle the monumental job, run inbetween the XJ and the computer and complain when I can't figure something out, go buy $1000 in tools to try to fix it, get frustrated and take it to a professional, but there's no info anywhere. Incredible.

slowjunk, thanks for updating the thread with your correct fix and helpful photo. Good work.
When it's warm out, and I get caught up with my maintenance, I will try to do a proper write-up for beginners of every vacuum line on the XJ

Opening the chilton or hanes can also tell you where vac lines go. Or you know that new thing called google.....
