an easy but less accurate way is to jack up the back end, spin tire one complete revolution and count the number of times the drive shaft spins and estimate the number as close as you can.

Just to figure out the ratio if I had no idea what the diff had, Mr. Gee only forgot the div part.

zip tie on drive shaft at 12 o'clock, tape on wheel at 12 o'clock...
