Doing the fuel injector swap today saw this clip on the fuel line. Am I supposed to remove it?

Is it some sort of quick release? Like, If I separate it, should the fuel line come loose?

 

It's there to help retain the fuel line. You'll still need the correct fuel line removal too (approx. $10) to remove the line from the nipple.

 

The quick disconnect tool, what size is that?

Also, is that clip supposed to come off? Makes sense to me that it should come off especially if it's there to retain the line on the nipple

 

the tool I bought has 2 sizes, kind of an X-shape scissor arrangement. No ides what the actuall sizes are, 3/8" and 5/16" maybe?

Yes the clip must be removed in order to use the tool.

 

Make sure you release the pressure on the line no need to disconnect it just move it out the way there is a bolt that holds the line down to the intake manifold its real easy! What injectors you planning on using?

x2 when i did my header swap, I just relieved fuel pressure and put it to the side.

 

Kinda makes it difficult to get the clipnuts out for the injectors doesn't it?

How far did you all go when you removed the fuel rail? There is a couple write-ups here and they talk about taking the air tube off and the throttle body off, as well as the bracket for the cables.

 

Get a cheapie set.. they work as well as pricey ones.. all they do is wrap around the fuel line and you push them in to release the line from the clip.

the tb is only if your doing a header swap, and i just turned the fuel rail around and put it where it wasnt bothering.Its flexible, you just gotta make sure you take off the metal retainers on the metal gas line.i know theres one on the manifold, not too sure if there's anymore.and no not at all, just clear everything out of the way and you can take the clips and injectors off after you pull out the fuel rail.You need to replace your o-rings with some new ones.also remember to use a little grease when putting'm back in. they'l slide right in.

 

correction, now that i remember when i did the header swap i didnt take off the tb, i took it out with the intake maniflod.

 

I wish these things were lead so I wouldn't have to worry about sparking.. lol

I purchased refurbed 784's from "Programbo" so they already have new o-rings.

 

lol.remember to take off your gas cap so once you relieve pressure the gas goes back down.

 

I am more worried about the gas line snapping than anything else. I don't have $70 or a ride to the dealership to fix that. That's why I was just going to take the rail off the car.

 

Should I put some anti-sieze on the bolts and nuts when I put it together?

Oh, and what are the torque specs for the fuel rail and the Throttle Bracket? n/m.

Consulted my FSM.. 100 in/lbs. for the fuel rail and 36 in/lbs for the bracket.
