Not familiar with the Power Transmission thing. I have options of Power or Comfort in my 90. What's it for? Towing? What does it change?

Its for either more aggressive shifting or less aggressive. Basically towing or not. I believe it just changes shift points within the tcu

It's basically an overdrive on/off switch.

89 AW4, When in Power position raises the shift points only, about 550 rpm. OD 4th still active, torque converter lock still active.

Not true. It changes the shifting characteristics of the trans as described above. The factory eliminated the switch in later years and defaulted the TCU to the Power mode.

Its a special switch that adds 100 rear wheel horsepower only use it in extreme conditions....on a serious note it holds the shifts longer and makes them firmer LEAVE it in power mode because when in comfort mode it allows the transmision clutches to slip taking life off of them....later models came factory hardwired in power mode

When you push the switch to Power, does the indicator light in the switch come on?

Good. cuz if it doesn't, there's always a chance the switch is bad and/or the "trans" fuse is blown. If either of those are the case, you will be stuck in permanent Comfort mode and/or have no reverse lights.
