Weird Clock Spring Discovery - Help
Bought a 1999 XJ a few months ago, appears to have all the cruise parts to it, and it all looks stock and not added. Cruise did not work however, the light never comes on, so it would appear there is an issue.
Upon removing the airbag, I discovered the plug for the cruise is unplugged, but the female end that goes into the clock spring is no where to be found. I see where the wires go, and there is no evidence they were violently removed. So the way I see it, either the previous owner had the clock spring replaced some way and did not install one with the cruise function attached, or it was removed by accident.
I want my cruise to work. My question is, is there a way to go to the junkyard and get the wires I need and reinstall them into the clock spring, or do I need to order a Clock Spring with cruise?

Not relating to your problem make sure to call a junkyard to make sure you can purchase a clock spring, 90% of the junkyards i went to that had them wont allow you to buy a clockspring due to it being a part of the airbag system and they dont sell airbags. Learn from my whole day ordeal lol. had every single part except for the clock spring and no one would sell it except a very small and sketchy junkyard.

Sounds like your clockspring was replaced with a non-cruise clockspring. If you want cruise back, you will have to replace the clockspring with another one with cruise.

Do you actually have cruise installed? My 2000 doesn't have it. It may have been eliminated by the PO. Make sure you have 3 cables going to the throttle body. I'm assuming your steering wheel has the control buttons? The vacuum actuator has a solenoid on it. Make sure the wire harness is hooked up to it as well as the vacuum hose.
