which way to set ignition key when dinghy towing
Towing a 1999 jeep cherokee sport behind a motorhome.
Which way do you set the ignition switch:
- accessory
- first click before engine on
??
obviously, need to have front wheels turning freely, but do not want to rack up additional miles on the odometer.
TNX for any help.

Flirst click, leaves power OFF and Steering UNLOCKED, Trans in Park and TC in N. IF you don't want the miles, you need disconnect the speed/odo sender or trailer it or remove rear drive shaft.

all above is corect except miles will not add up on a 99...in fact 91-2001 will not add up when flat towing due to electronic speed transmitter. I flat tow mine all the time and miles do not go up.
