Default 1996 Cherokee Jeep 4 Litre - Please can you help

Hi there

I have 1996 Cherokee Jeep 4 Litre, all of a sudden the fuel pump does not work and there is no spark at the plugs, even when you just put the iginition on, you cannot hear the pump prime, any ideas.

fuses is always a first place to check, and ground to the battery, also the main ground to the block on the passenger side behind the distributor

If the fuses are OK, you probably have a bad fuel pump. The ECM/PCM probably is not sending a spark signal because it senses no fuel flow to the injectors.

Check to see if any relays are toast. Also quick way to check fuses w/o pulling is a test light.

The ECU isn't that smart. I promise.


Look into the Cam AND crank position sensors.

Pump probably dead, pm me if you need help. ive done mine 3 times.. (faulty pumps from autozone haha bastages)

That would not explain the lack of spark at the plugs...

i have a 96 jeep cherokee spot 4.0 v6 it dont get any fuel or spake or even a engine light when you turn the key. it was last week it was running fine and it started up but it died and it dont want to start up again i text the fuel pump and it works but when i text it with the key it dont work until i touch it with a text light with the relay in. but i know there is a relay under the dash that gos to the ignition switch thats over hearting and i want out today bought a new one and thats over hearting too. i need help with this

Have you looked into the two sensors?

Default

Cam position sensor and coil position sensor.

However if your not even getting a CEL when you first turn the key your ECU may be shot. Not very likely though.

i check the coil the power going into it with a text light and there was no light when turning the key when i text it on my other jeep and it work but it didnt work on this jeep how can i text the camshaft position sensor

My jeep wasn't running right either and the codes said p0340 which has to do with the cam p sensor so I tried to order one and no one has one So does anyone one know where to find one?

look under rockauto i know i have to get samethings on there for my jeep what auto parts didnt have and they are chep too
