The steel pipe that runs from the top of the water pump to the heater core appears to be all rusty, any way to correct this without the removal of the water pump itself, I guess its threaded into the water pump and because its curved it doesn't just turn out
here is a photo I found online, when the water pump is replaced with an a/m one I saw photos of a plastic hose or aluminum

You can try to cut it and try to get a wrench in there. I don't think it can be done. The easiest way is to just remove the pump and if you are going to do that you may as well replace the pump. As for the tube you can replace it with a brass barb fitting and a longer piece of hose. That's how I repaired mine.
You can straighten the tube to remove it, and use a hose barb in its place.

You can replace the individual tube, I know that Napa has it at least because I just replaced my pump and this tube.
If you want to replace just the tube, you can try to cut it off right at the bottom nut and get a socket on it to ratchet it out.
Changing the water pump isn't too hard, but time consuming. There are a few writeups around if you search. You'll need to undo the power steering pump and remove the electric fan (but NOT the mechanical fan, as some writeups suggest).

Those inlet tubes seem to degrade quickly. I have one that is 3 years old and looks bad already. I will use the brass fitting and hose next time. I guess the trick is to make the turn towards the rear without kinking the hose.

You can buy the dealer part for about $20-25. My local NAPA has this on their vacuum fitting rack. You need to remove the water pump or the head. ;^) If you spray the threads at the water pump with penetrant and give it a few days it will probably be easier. I used a 3/4" wrench and a long rod through the bottom radiator support for leverage and it came loose.
