Default Voltage problem with coolant temp sensor

I have a error code #22 thats causing my check engine light to be one. Code #22 is the coolant temp sensor is recieving too much or not enough voltage. Today I replaced the sensor itself and the code was still there. The thing still drives like a champ but the check engine light bothers me. Im not quite sure how to resolve this problem.

Always post year and engine.

Earlier Xjs had two coolant temp sensors. Need to be sure you replaced the one that provides input to the computer, not the one that controls the gauge on dash.

Sorry, its a 93 I6. I believe there is only one. And if there is 2, I replaced the one that provides the input into the computer.

Nope, you have more than one.

The one that would be involved with your issue is on the thermostat housing. Is that the one you replaced?

The one on the back of the cylinder head is for the gauge I believe and should not be involved here.

Aahhhhh good to know, my temp gauge has been lying since the day I bought my jeep (always very low) I will change it out tomorrow and see if it tells me the truth now.

Yes i replaced the thermostat housing. Today i drove it to and from school and the check engine light was off. So hopefully that solved my problem!
