Just wondering if anyone has any creative ideas for a replacement vacume reservoir. Mine is missing and every one that I've found in the salvage yard is broken in one way or another. Anyone come up with a home-made design that works well and can be easily added or maybe another vehicle that has one that will mount up easily in the Jeep?

From my research, it seems like the vacuum ball/Jeep egg is simply an encased canister with a port going to it. I plan on making my own lower profile vacuum canister from PCV that can mount out of sight, out of mind against the engine bay wall. I see no reason why this should not work. IIRC, the system only holds at most I think 15 pounds of vacuum.

If you don't have cruise control and just need it for the HVAC controls, get one of the small vac ***** off 80s GM vehicles. Mount it up under your hood at the passenger side rear of your engine compartment. That eliminates all the lines going to the front bumper past the battery.

My brother has one of those on his F-150, but as with most of those metal cans, it rusted and has a hole in it... that's patched with epoxy. Plastic is definately the way I'd rather go and the PVC idea is a good one.

Wouldn't they have a vacuum check in there to hold vacuum after shutdown? I went to relocate mine after it sat for a day, and when I pulled the line off of one side you could hear it 'inhale'...

I like the pvc idea. Paint it to match/contrast. Also believe they have a oneway
valve (check), so the engine can draw the vacuum and it not leak back out
as mentioned above, unless there's a leak in the system. FYI, vacuum is measured
in inches not pounds.

In regards to the check valve, on my '91 it is right at the manifold connected to the fitting threaded into the intake manifold itself. Unless there are multiple check valves? Guess more couldn't hurt.
