Vaccuum ball help
hey guys i have a 93 cherokee laredo and noticed the pill shaped vaccuum ball fell off. when ever i would go in water over my bumper the jeep sputtered horribly. i moved the vaccuum house and pinched it for now. Bottom line i guess is what specifically is the ball there for, and will it mess anything up with it pinched. it seems to be running good and gas milage hassnt been affected. thanks for any input

it is a vacuum canister and if it isn't there your blower won't work correctly i.e. you hit the gas and it cuts out until you back off or reach your cruising speed. also some have 2 attachments on each side that second one is for the cruise control. the only problem with not having them connected is those above. you don't want to suck water in through the vacuum lines so leave them pinched until you can find a new canister.
