Default using heater

I have just bought my first Jeep after restoring and selling a Bronco II. 1989 XJ 4.0 So after reading through most of the threads I have not found an answer to a simple question. Currently at idle I am showing 14 on alternator output. When using heater OR A/C my voltage drops to 13 is this a problem with the blower, or normal operating readings?
This Cherokee had been sitting for almost 5 years and started once or twice a year. I have it in pretty good running condition {hate saying that its a jinx} after a month slowly waking it back up.

alright then should have been an easy question, maybe too simple or a 'I should already know question?' Or maybe I need to post a picture?

Sounds like you've done a good job so far. Dropping from 14 to 13 is normal when electrical accessories are turned on.

Thank you cruiser54, If I turn on the headlights emer. blinkers etc it stays @ 14, just the heater/AC drops the output.
I had to start with the leaky injectors, only replaced one with OEM and replaced all the rings. found the pressure was still so low. Replaced the in tank fuel pump { didnt have to drop the tank in this year model, access through back of tank}and in line filter. When I pulled the pump out it disintegrated in front of me, I still dont know where the filter went.
Then on to brakes I had to stand up to get them to stop. New master , adjustment still seems like it takes way too much pressure to apply them.
Took a weeks course here on this forum on the RENIX system. ty for the information.

You misspelled Brakes (*Grammar **** mode disabled*) and that would be the booster, not the master cylinder. If the mater was going out the pedal would be easy to push but not apply sufficient pressure to the system.

And actually on that note, if i remember correctly the '89 has the Bendix 9 system which is notorious for going out. I'll look into this and make sure unless someone wants to add on for me.

Anyways, looks good so far!

I was right about the Bendix9 part, apparently there's a recall that'll get it fixed for you.

No problem. The issue with the Bendix9 system is it used an electric pump to create vacuum for the booster, and said pump likes to crap out. Good luck!

Could just be the single diaphragm booster that your not used to It SUCKS. You could try putting in a newer dual diaphragm booster from a 96' XJ or later. That's my plan... eventually.

Or for even more power, from a Grand Cherokee... Can't remember which years worked though. I'm gonna be doing this soon since i just studied brakes in college

Yeah. I just said the 96' because it requires the least modification, at least thats what I've gathered from my research.
