Some things are meant to be bought new, and that is one of them IMO.

Depends on what kind of locker and if it was installed right.

I installed a PowerTrax No-Slip in a '92 Chevy P/U, used it for 6 yrs/70,000+ miles, pulled it before I sold the P/U and sold the locker to a friend. It looked almost new when I pulled it and still going today. Got to have over 100K miles on it by now. Don't most diffs go 100K+ miles under normal use? It's my understanding that locker is a lot stronger than anything else in the factory rearend.

I would defeniatly not buy a used ARB. arb are very touchy brand new. unless you know the rig the locker came out of and inspected it thoroughly i wouldn't but a used locker.

Default used locker...

IMO I would think really long and hard about who you are getting this from... if it's a friend that you trust and can go back to then maybe. I bought a locker ( d35 detroit C-locker 27 spline ) from someone who i thought was a friend. It turns out that he might have forgotten to tell me that it was his brother's originally and he broke two axle shafts in it. Now i am stuck with a locker that is a constant worry and problem area and a friend who won't talk to me about it. I would just save the money and get a new one if i had to do this all over again.
