Default umm this is a scary thought

ok like iv said before my 4x4 does not seem to work. and if i shift it into 4x4 my rear will lock and drop into the rear but my front still dont turn!! now mine is an 86 and im missing the vac lines and stuff, but that does not make the 4x4 work thats only to slide the fork over and lock the two shafts. my front should still spin! i jacked her um and say that my front driveshaft does not spin and my shift linkage seems to be ok so im thinking that maby my front axel broke?? its a D30 but when i do drive it down the street(in 2wd or with 4x4 engaded) the front axel does not make any noice or any wierd sounds. so im confused how can i tell if its broken please having a jeep with no 4x4 sucks

your front driveshaft should still spin if you have all 4 tires off the ground yes... but your axle will not turn at all until the fork is over...
