Talked to the dealer. He thinks because its all part of the light switch assembly he will have to turn it off through the computer.

Default door chimes

I hate the door chimes too. When I'm working or cleaning it I like to have the music on and that chime kills it for me. I just taped it down...

I would actually like mine to work! I have a police package on mine and it does nothing when you open the door or leave the lights on.

I can hear a very very very faint chime with the keys in or the lights on.

I would like it to work for my wife...since she drives it the most and was use to an SUV with auto headlights.

On my older one pulling # 4 fuse would make it go away and the only thing you lost was the interior light and buzz buzz
If this dont cure yours, pull one fuse at a time until it goes off and see if you lose any other accessorie if not leave fuse out

I do like having the lights come on though when the door opens. Recently I just got in the habit of pulling the key half way out and it stops.

Where is that button? I have looked, both doors. There is NO button, **** or anything. I was sure something needs to push in to tell it the door is shut. It buzzes 24/7, like the door is open.

I don't know about later model xj's. But for those of you that have at least 91-96 year xj's, the actual buzzer is underneath the driver side of the dash. It's a bigish black box on the side of the fuse box down there.

It takes a lil wiggling and swearing, but it comes out easily enough. It doesn't adversely affect anything, and no more buzzing. I dissected the thing afterwords to show my protest to it's existence.

Best answer/solution. Took about 5 seconds and was exactly what i wanted. No buzzer and dome light still comes on when door is opened. Thanks!
