Default Trying to get heater core out

I'm hung up on three items. I can't find the 4 bolts referred to that will allow me to removed the steering column. I think I have the dash moved up enough on the passenger side that it may not make a difference. I've got the 5 nuts off the studs from the front of the firewall, but the end of the heater housing closest to the door still feels like there's another bolt somewhere. I can't locate it. I've evacuated the A/C lines, but there's not nut to disconnect the lines. Do I need a special tool to get them apart? I've got to get this thing back together tomorrow. It's the last nice day this year I think.

I just yanked the two nuts holding the column to the bracket, dropped it down a ways. And the dash will not come all the way out on my 90XJ. Pain in the butt, huh? I'm not done with mine either...

If it is the heater core you are trying to remove, it will come out without doing all this. I have done it before. You just pull the bottom part of the dash out, remove some 8mm screws and a clip and part of the heater core housing comes off and then you can access the heater core which is in the center over the tranny tunnel. You don't have to pull the whole dash unless you want to remove the AC evaporator core.

so the heater core is located over the tranny. do you have any pics. how do you get the screws out that are on top of the box on the passenger side. and what is the plastic strap that goes around the box on the passenger side.

You need to remove the dash. I don't know what that other person was talking about.

It seems like the people who don't take it all the way out take their seats out instead and then its still a tight fit to pull out the heater core box.
