We need more details.

What "symptoms" do you have??

DTC P1694 will set if no CCd bus messages are received from PCM for 20 seconds or invalid messages are received for 20 seconds.

Possible Causes
Failed Crank Position Sensor
CCD Bus (-) circuit open between PCM and TCM.
CCD Bus (+) circuit open between PCM and TCM.
Transmission CCD bus wiring damaged.
Faulty TCM.

Only one really. A little tough starts sometimes. It always starts, just seems to be not as snappy as other vehicles. That's all.

If you have no other symptoms, it is possible that you are on the very front end of a crankshaft position sensor acting up....that would be for the P1694.

The P0700 shouldn't be related to the P1694 and is a very "generic" code for something transmission related.

If this were mine, I'd clear the codes and see what comes back. And consider getting a spare crank sensor (buy them from Jeep) in case yours flies the coop. You'll likely need it sometime if you own your XJ long enough; it is possibly the most common engine management system fail.

I did clear it once and it came back.

Where is it located?

As for trans, it was just serviced, seems to shift smooth. I hope all is well with that.

Thanks

CPS is $12 on EBay. Might try that.

I wouldn't. Don't buy this part on price. Those are cheap chinese parts and many don't even work out of the box, and if they do, the reliability isn't great. In fact, it's about non-existent.

I buy plenty of aftermarket parts, but I buy most of my engine management sensors directly from Jeep. Well worth the extra money, especially for a sensor that can leave you high and dry if it fails.

The dealership wanted about $80 or so for my 99. I bought a genuine MOPAR crank sensor online from this place for just over $50.

O'Rilley wanted $89. More than dealer.

I assume those dealer ones are made in China as well?

Maybe the cheap one can be my back up.
