Default Trippy stamp on 4.0 block...

So I am in the process of rebuilding my 89 XJ 4.0 and while I was painting my block I noticed that there is CJ stamp on the side... What does this stamp mean? Is there a possibilty it came out of another Jeep?

A pic is posted below...

well CJ's never came with the 4.0L, they had the 4.2L's or 304's. Idk what it is but I would bet its a production code. I cant recall if my 88 block had that or not

I don't know specifically for this product - But when I worked in manufacturing, that type of symbol was used to nail down the date/time/shift the thing was produced on. But I could be wrong...

martin, you might make sure the hole for your knock sensor is threaded, and the temp sender will go OK before instal.

Hey Martin. Since I was parroting a post from Pete, safe bet the knock sensor hole is threaded. Is the there a plug where the temp sensor goes? Make sure you can get it out and that your temp sender fits.

The big stuff is often pretty easy compared to the details.

There is a provision for a CTS on the late blocks also. Be forewarned. It's a 5/16" square drive.......
