Okay, thanks for the advice. And I know... Everything always sounds easy but it is a huge pain to do. I'm thinking though that I may just drop it clean it and put it back in after i replace the filter and gasket. Is the screen something that should be replaced as well?

I have already watched some videos on others doing this as well and have seen how it could be tricky to work around the exhaust. My dad does have a pretty good assortment of tools so I should be able to get it done. I have what I think is a small leak coming from my transmission and am hoping it is just the pan gasket. Also going to be replacing the tc fluid while I'm at it.

Not on mine, it wasn't. Are you sure you aren't confusing your trans filter with your in-tank fuel filter?
