If it won't shift automatically the electronics aren't working. Check for power to the TCU first- I believe your year has the inline fuseholder just above the passenger's knee area. 10A IIRC, wrapped up in the TCU harness.

Correct. 5 speeds don't have TCUs.

I got a TCU ordered this morning should be here today or tomorrow. My local mechanic is ordering it for me but ill put it on. I looked yesterday and guess what there was no TCU in my jeep at all. The guy before me rigged it up somehow that their is a switch on my dash to put the jeep into second gear and then on into 3rd then drive. I asked him about it he said it was a common thing people have done but I can't find it any where do any of you have ideas? will i just be able to throw the TCU and a fuse in and hopefully fix it?
