Alright I was digging around under the jeep and while unbolting my CPS I found this:
sorry for the super huge photo, not sure how to fix that lol.
anyway mid summer I was driving to telluride and saw some drips from the trans. Ive read this can be from it overheating? anyway in order to be sure it was the trans or not i went to napa and got a trans fluid dye to add into the transfer case. the jeep drives perfectly fine so I hope this is only a seal.
I can tell you dex merc looks like its kinda glowing, but this is not the UV dye coming from the T/C. example of the UV/trans fluid i used and trans fluid dumped on a shop towel.
So here I am, ive fixed A Lot on this thing, but this is new to me. Im none to thrilled at the metal looking seepage. What do you all think is going on here and what is likely instore to fix this?
thank you for your assistance

Trans output shaft bearing seal where it goes into the transfer case is what I'm thinking. It should be dripping from the vent slot at the bottom of the mounting flange if that were the case.

any thoughts on the metallic bit seeping out, normal goo from wear?
It's aluminum fretting aka aluminum schmutz. You ever notice how three drops of engine oil can spread to cover the whole side of the block or a teaspoon of oil will spread out on the floor bigger than a paper plate ? It's like that. Clean it up when you have it apart to fix the leak and after that there won't be any more schmutz.
I was under the jeep recently and that same aluminum fretting was leaking from the bell housing of the jeep, by the inspection plate. Is this typical of the front seal or pump giving out?
I currently have no shifting or drivability issues with the jeeps trans. Is this film just the normal wear of the AW4 guts leaking out?
