A bad TPS and/or the stuff described in my Tip 10 could be the root cause.

If its not your daily driver i would pull the trans myself and have a shop rebuild it.If you can pull it an put it back yourself a shop charges like 600 to 800 bucks to rebuild most trans if you drop it off and pick it back up.

Yes if you able to do the labor this is the way to go. but I can't anymore.

BTW I would check what Cruiser54 suggested as he is the man on these.

I tend to always jump to the worst possible scenario. But one thing I've learned from Cruiser and the guys, is keep it simple and start with the basics. I've learned what havoc a bad ground can cause, or a small vacuum leak.

Fred, did I see you over on bobistheoilguy? Seem to remember your avitar.

Default Thanks

thanks, I work in a shop so I can do the labor and have the tools, I'm positive its slippin, it'll have good days and bad days, it's my daily and on the way home the other day I hit about 5 grand and didn't want to shift and the tranny started smokin and it finally let go and shifted, but thanks for the advice I would say I got a pretty good deal on a tranny that only has about 70,000 on it

I rather have a rebuild one with no miles vs a used one no matter how many miles it has on it.

I'd rather have a used one that I knew was running well compared to a rebuild that could've been messed up and then more time lost...

Unless a guy rebuilt it in his garage at home its going to work no problem. And a lot of transmission shops have a transmission test stand to test it before sending it out.
