Tow Bar install.
OK I need to help here. I need to install a Tow Bar for a one time only tow. On a 100% stock XJ. The tow bar I have is the one from Harbor Freight. Now it looks like I can install 1 bolt through the stock bumper mount and than sandwich the bumper for the second bolt doing this on both sides. I thing this will be strong enough. but need some input. It's for a 1 time only tow.
Thanks for any and all help. If you have pics of idea's to do this post them up also..

Don't forget the safety chains connecting the vehicles. Also get some clip-on or magnetic auxiliary lights for rear of towed vehicle that plug into tow vehicles trailer light plug. They cost less than $20, they're cheap insurance.

Ya safety is a must. I need to get the XJ about 35 miles, All of which will most likely be on dirt roads.
It has a bad trany, but just found out it will move some. I may just drive it on the dirt roads. I'm not really worried about completely toasting the trany I'll be parting it out either way..

If that's the case, I'd hook it up and go with it. If no aux. lights, turn on the 4-way (emergency) flashers, and with white bottle-type shoe polish, write in the back window "VEHICLE IN TOW". That will cover your hind-end if "Big John" happens to mosey along. Been there, done that-more than twice!
Your hook-up idea sounds fine by the way.

nope no thread as of yet, there will be once it's home. I've been working the deal for over a month. But yep it has the XJ D44 in the rear. And alot of other parts I need. Plus I love teh 4 head light waggy look. I'll be swapping that grill head light set up onto my XJ..
