tire/rim opinions
Hey guys/gals,
I lifted my XJ 2 inches all around this summer and finally saved enough for some tires and rims.
I live in michigan and have to deal with snow on a regular basis. Most of the offroading I do is trail riding, or on the sand dunes.
Nothing real heavy.
Can I get some opinions on tires and rims?
I kinda like the offset look, with the tires sticking out a bit.
But as far as tires....?
I'm thinking 31, possibly BFGs?
I had a set on my last truck and they held up.
Anyone have an opinion on what to put on a daily driver?
Thanks in advance,
Billy

I can tell you that with 2" you're probably gonna have to trim some flare and bumper cap with 31's. I can rub my 30's goin over a good sized curb (I'm @ 2" lift).
I have the Firestone Destination M/T's. Have done very little wheelin since puttin them on but I can tell you they behave very well on-road/hwy.

Yeah I had 31s at 2'' and they rubbed,so you may have to trim a little. As far as rims I like steel, like the d-windows or soft 8s.Alloy wheels look good but can break under alot of stress instead of bending like a steel wheel, you can get home on bent rim if you have to.

I lifted mine 2" last night. I also live in Michigan and will be going with
General Grabber AT2. I also have Firestone Destination AT on my Commander and swear by them. Best all purpose tire I know of. I want the Grabbers for my hunting/trail rig though.

Would one inch of lift help clear suspension components yet not leave me with crap blown on the side of my rig?
Again, I'd like to widen the stance to prevent the roll over thing, as well as for dune riding.
What about KM2's?

Consider Goodyear Duratracs. Severe weather rated and very decent off road. I've had mine since June and am very happy. My first goodyears, always been a cooper guy.

the suspention rubs on control arms and swaybar due to the larger tires lift doesn't fix it, offset wheels will or stacking washers behind steering stops(i tweaked the stops) running a stock offset wheel will be easier on bearings, will keep your rig cleaner, solve body rubbing and personally i think look better on a mild lift.
