I have a stock 99 XJ Sport 4x4 and am due for tires. I currently have 225/75/15 Goodyear Tracker 2s on stock rims but want something more aggressive (keeping the stock rims). I am looking for suggestions for a tire that will fit on my rig that isn't more than $150 per tire (plus installation).
Am I limited to just that tire size or could I go a hair bigger to open up more options?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Not really bigger, little wider. On my old stock XJ I ran 255/70/15 all the way around, no rubbing. My concern is your price point.
I don't mean to sound rude, but unless you shop at Wal-Mart again for those Tracker 2, or Costco/BJ's/Sams Club, your gonna be hard pressed to find a new tire, let alone a quality new tire in that price range, plus installation. The Tracker 2 are garbage, but they're a cheaply made tire to pump out in large volume without much concern for R&D, or customer feedback.
The other option you have would be TireRack.com, then either get a friend who works at a shop, or make friends with someone at a shop to do the install for you.
Like I said, I don't mean to sound rude, but thats a pretty tight pricepoint for what your asking. Tires are a part petroleum based product, and as oil goes up, so does the cost of production and logistics.

I ran 235/75R15 on my stock rig for a little bit. The rear leafs were sagging and I still ran that size tire fine.
As far as price point is concerned, are you saying $150 per tire not including installation? If that is the case, there are a myriad of options. I am running Goodyear Wrangler Radials right now and haven't had a problem yet. Been through some stuff but nothing too crazy. They were $80 a tire. A local shop was selling Yokohama Geolanders and General Grabbers for $120 a tire. You won't be able to get BFG KOs or the Goodyear SilentArmor type of stuff for that price, but there are a plethora of good A/T tires in that price range.
Edit: And there is https://www.treadwright.com/ if you comfortable with retread tires.

There are a decent amount of tires in 235/75R15 and 30x9.50 for less than 150$/ea
Check out tires.com tirerack.com treadepot.com

Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO (or 693/695)

+1 on possibly bumping it up to even a 235/75/15, which was a standard size option.
+1 again to everyone running Goodyears.

I just switched my rims and tires for some used rims and tires off of a 2000 jeep wrangler, stock rims with 235/75/15 tires. So far so great can't wait til the snow flies and see what difference they make. Old ones were getting pretty low on tread so either way are gonna be better then what it would have been this winter. and for 100$ for 5 rims and tires one of them being totally new never touching the road i'll take that all day long. Good luck in your decision,

I'm sure I will get flamed for this but honestly if you were like me whos xj spends 90% of the time on the road ( I have a cj for most of my off road adventures). The uniroyal liberator is one of the best tires i have ever had. Bf goodrich owns michellin and uniroyal just an fyi. I was in a bind and needed new tires fast and I have had them on my xj for about 10k miles, they are pretty good off road too and have been put to the test on rocks sand and mud. I have been more than happy with them. I think they were about 90 a piece for 235 75 15. Also while I have never owned a set of re treads my next set will probably be from treadwright ( there are alot of really good reviews). So which ever route you go make sure you do your research before you buy, remember you have to drive this jeep everyday so make sure your investment is a good one. Sorry for the long post.

Are you looking more for the aggressive look or for better ride? I have a set of Goodyear Wranglers on mine right now. They ride good. I got them in 235/75r/15 which is a size up from the stock, but they fit great.
Best looking tires if you want to stay closer to stock would be (opinion only) BFG all terrains in a 235/75r/15. I had some BFG Mud Terrains on mine for a while (had to special order them), but the price is a little steep unless you can find a sale. They looked really good, but rode semi-rough.
