Any reason why this would tick? I just got this jeep going , not sure what the previous owner might have messed with

Purge solenoid. Loud ticking is pretty normal.

It's the vapor canister purge valve and it's supposed to tick. Several other people have mentioned it recently. I guess some are louder than others. Bottom line, don't worry about it.

I agree; have seen a pretty wide variation in the noise this valve makes. As long as you're not tripping any codes and can live with the noise, ignore it.

A new one may or may not be quieter, but it is something you could try.

I've seen new ones even from the dealer be just as loud. It's just the way it's designed and you gotta accept it.

Yeah, I'm fine with the tick. This Cherokee is still a Cadillac compared to my last one
