Default there's no power running to my headlights (help)

Hey guys,

So I purchased a 99 Cherokee Sport and came to find out that the head and fog lights don't work. This is true for the high beams as well. But all lights and electronics work perfectly including the dash lights. I investigated by taking a headlights off and using a multimeter to if there was power reaching the lights. There is not. I checked all the fuses and they were all good. Then I noticed cut wires. I'm honestly a bit clueless when it comes to electrical components. I tried reading the headlight wiring diagram, but I can not make any sense of it. (I'll post some pictures tomorrow when I'm back at my place).

I'm honestly a bit clueless when it comes to electrical components. Any help on what my next steps should be is appreciated.

in general, (yours is a later model than mine)

my year has a poor headlight circuit design, meaning the headlight switch burns out

the normal fix is to fit a harness with relays which can be purchased ready to go off ebay or some vendor on here

you may need a new headlight switch, or at least check whether the output to headlights is present, wires cut or burned etc

no way around understanding the circuit diagram wiring colors

download the factory FSM of cruiser54 website if you havent already

here is a link to that job described on his site

Or perhaps the cut wires are an indication that a harness was installed already?

No, the upgrade harness plugs into the existing passenger side headlight plug and is connected to the battery supply directly. No need to cut wires. The old driver's side headlight plug just gets taped and tucked in behind the headlight and not used.

From what I've seen those aftermarket H4 harnesses plug into the factory wiring to turn them on and toggle between high and low beams. So I don't think that's an option. If the headlight switch was burned would the dash lights still work, since they use the same switch?

on both sides, the wires running out of the clips were cut. It also looks like the left hand wires run through to the right side of the car just behind the front grill.

Looks like some wires running out of the hazard /left turn signal were cut to

Found this random clip behind the left hand side of the front bumper and snaked it out.
