The whining sound still develops around 30mph, tried turning the wheel back and forth trying to listen for a change in pitch but I just couldn't tell. Thanks for the replies.
You had the unit bearing in your hand and you didn't even spin it? If faced in the future with an item like that unit bearing with an unknown history just replace it while it's off, verus going back in two weeks later when it fails.

It spun by hand, didnt feel any grinding or anything. I am planning on changing the hubs soon anyways, didnt want to do it tonight as it was too late to borrow a torque wrench that can do 175ft/lbs. I dont care about tearing into it again as this is not my daily driver. Guess I will pull the front driveshaft tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks.

Does anyone know if all 3 u-joints on the front driveshaft are the same?

Man. I was hoping there was an actual goose under your jeep that moved in just so I can say that Geese are arseholes.

LOL, I can honestly say that when I first heard it I looked up to see if there was flock overhead....then I remembered that I drive a Jeep...with 186,000 miles...and realized my Jeep was the culprit
