Default Temperature sending unit

Hey, so I was having problems with my motor temp not reading correctly so I replaced the Temperature sending unit. Now It will not read at all, And I did burp the system already. Any ideas?

There are TWO different coolant temp sensors for your vintage XJ. Be sure you have the correct one. One feeds the computer, one feeds the gauge.

If I remember correctly, The temp sensor for the gauge is located at the back of the head near the firewall, on the drivers side.

It is not that uncommon to get the incorrect application from the parts store. Unless you specify exactly which one you need. That may be your issue.

X2^.... Very High probability you got the idiot light switch, and not the sender for a gauge.

Are they the same size and thread count? Because I know the threads were correct

I think they are the same threads. That is why it can be confusing.

Time to go back to the parts store and verify this. High probability you have the wrong part.
