Question Temperature gauge not working, any ideas?

I replaced the Thermostat on my 1994 Jeep Cherokee Country a few weeks ago along with a temperature sensor, and now my temperature gauge doesn't have any reading at all. When I start the engine, it goes from the left side of the gauge all the way to the right, then goes back down to flatline, and no matter how far I drive it doesn't move one bit. Any ideas? The gauge and needle work fine, just not getting any readings!

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks all.

Could be the temp sensor was bad from where ever you got it.

Why did you replace your temperature sensor in the first place? Must have been an issue?

If you had a reading before you replaced that sensor and don't now, go back and re-check that connector and try another sensor.

It's a 1994 Cherokee Country. And I tried unplugging the sensor from the electronics then reconnecting, and still nothing. Put a new sensor in and still no dice.

did you replace the one at the back of the head?

on a 94 that one controls the gauge, not the one on the T-stat housing

Yeah, it was the sensor at the rear of the head. I've tried about one hundred times removing it and putting it back in thinking it may have trapped air inside, and tried reconnecting it as well, still nothing.

Thanks so much again for the help, I'll pick one up and try replacing that and see if that'll get it working.

If you exhaust all possibilities on the sender, the gauge or wiring are still in play here...

I just went outside in Michigan's wonderful 13* degree weather because this was eating at me, I'm just realizing that I replaced the temperature switch at the rear of my engine. The sensors on the headers haven't been changed though. So I'm thinking switch is good, and the sensors I haven't changed in the middle and front aren't working or connected right.
