Default Sway bar links and bushings question

98 Xj sport.

I will be replacing my sway bar links with these:

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...644&cc=1315943

Will they fit ?

Also, I would assume that it would be a good idea to replace the sway bar bushings. Although, i have never done this, i do not know what size my sway bar is, and i do not know how (Yet).

So i guess my other questions will be, will these fit? http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...642&cc=1315943

Since i am assuming i have the 28mm sway bar. And how exactly do you go about installing these? Is it complicated?

Thanks guys

Just did mine a few weeks ago on my 98 XJ Sport (used the Moog bushings). I got mine on Amazon (free prime shipping). Probably took 20 min for both the bushings and end-link bushings (i reused my links only replacing the bushings).

Moog K3171 Sway Bar Bushing
Moog K3150 Sway Bar End

Once you get under there, it is fairly easy-- you'll see where everything goes.

Why did you change your sway bar bushing and end?
What was the symptom?

Depending on the level of rot, you may have to cut the links off of the sway bar. The nuts were rust welded onto mine, but they are easy to cut off, especially since your removing the entire bar. The bar is held on by four bolts that thread into the unibody. VERY easy job.

If I had to guess, it would be one or more of these: rotted bushings, noise, movement of the sway bar due to loose bushings, possible handling issues, or routine maintenance. Just to name a few.

How do you reccommend cutting them off?

If its possible that what your saying is true, then its probably my situation. Every single component that has been replaced, to this day, has been seized and rusted. i hope its not the case, but probably is.

The only common thing that DIDNT happen to me, was the rear upper shock bolts actually didnt break during replacement

You can just use a long breaker bar and keep going until the nut twists off!

Or an angle grinder with a 3"+ wheel or even a dremel with the reinforced cutoff wheel (don't use the heavy duty ones they just break).

You may have already completed this but I did it on my 99 sport two weeks ago. Very simple job. I just sprayed some "bolt/nut release" on all the bolts/nuts first and waited about 10 minutes. All came out just fine. I was having the dreaded knock under the front end every time I went over a bump. New bushings and sway bar ends fixed the knock. Didn't realize just how annoying that knock was until it was gone! Also, I wasnt sure what size my sway bar was so I stopped by AZ and borrowed a thingy that measures in mm's (sorry dont know what its called).

I'm doing mine tomorrow (along with tie rods, track bar and steering damper). Hopefully soaking in PB blaster tonight will make everything go smooth tomorrow.
