Sway bar links for 3" lift
Well, while installing my lift this weekend, I managed to snap all 4 rear shock mounting bolts and one of the sway bar links (even after soaking with PB blaster for two weeks prior). Now I want to replace them with some better links since the stockers looked a little short anyway, but I'm having a tough time finding the right set for just 3".
So far I've only found the Warrior Products version:
http://www.tellico4x4.com/product_in...ducts_id/23313
but I've read that they're just a little too short for 3" lifts. And then there is Pro Comp's:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EXP-55597B
I can't really convince myself that disconnects would be worth doubling the price and the possibility of the noise. The only inexpensive ones that I've seen are RC and they say for 4-6" of lift. What are your opinions/suggestions?

Which part broke the link itself or the bolt?
I've done a search on this too and the closest I could find was Rusty's for a 3.5" - 6" lift. It doesn't look like anybody makes em for the 3" (at least not that I could find). Sorta makes me wonder if the 3.5" is close enough.
I played around with disconnects this weekend and found that it makes one heck of a difference in offroad capabilities to disconnect the front sway bar. If you don't plan on running anything other than fireroads and easy trails and don't need the extra flex, then I'd just put em back stock. If you want to flex it then I'd probably give Rusty's a call and ask them if theirs will work for a 3" lift.
I might catch heck for this, but I made some quick disconnects using the stock links. Don't know if I'll leave it like this or not, but I know it'll have some kind of disconnect. It makes too much of a difference not to have em.

Edit: Just called Rustys and he says these will work with a true 3" coil spring lift.
On a side note, I've never called them before. Very nice guy answered the phone. It was a short call but he was very amiable.

The threaded portion at the top of the link itself.
I like the looks, and more importantly the price, on your setup. You're just running the stock length links and it's not holding the front end down at all? Any idea what length your links are? I've heard there are two different stock lengths. Mine look to be/have been about 8 1/4" from tip to tip and I think 7 1/4" is the other possible length.
Should I just replace the broken one with a stock link and use the leftover money to make my own disconnects?

I haven't measured these, but they're stock. It might be holding it back some on big flex, but on the road they work fine. Then again......that's why I did the disconnect thing so it's kind of a moot point.
The hardware to make them cost about $12. Two 1/2" X 3" long clevis pins, four 1/2" washers (thicker the better), two 1/2" rubber grommets, two 10mm-20 wing nuts, two large pin clips for the clevis pins, and two small pin clips for the uppers. I used a drill press to drill the pin holes in the tops of the links. It would be real hard to do with a hand drill.
You could pick up a replacement link from the JY for just a few bucks I'm sure.
You might want to wait for some feedback on this post though. Some of the guys might see a problem with this setup that I'm overlooking. I've tested them a bit, but not real extensively. Can't guarantee how they'll hold up just yet.

Been doing some thinking on this subject...........
I've had a couple people contact me about the home made quick disconnects. Please guys, be careful. I've only had the truck out one time and logged 50 or so road miles. They are pretty much untested at this point (or at least not rigorously tested). I'm not sure what they'll do in a panic situation where a real heavy load is put on them. They could bend or just snap right off which could result in a rollover.
I don't want anybody or one of their family members to get hurt. Since this truck is for my stepson, I'll end up going to a unit that is factory made and pay the money so I know it's safe. This was really more of a test version to see if I liked the idea and if they really helped off road. I've been the only person in the truck since they were installed.
If it were for me, I might just keep them the way they are, but it's not.

too rich for my blood. For as often as I'm going to be disconnecting them, I don't mind getting out the wrenches. Now if I could find a set closer to the $50 or so that RC wants for a set of there's for 4"-6", I'd go the disco route.

I ordered a factory made set today. List price was $45 ea. By the time you pay tax and shipping it's $65 for the pair.
These home made ones did what they were supposed to. Sell me on the idea of discos. I saw some place where they claimed 30% increase in off road effectiveness with the sways disconnected. I believe that's true and possibly even a little conservative. Makes it a whole different machine.
