what's wrong with sony?
I've had the same sony 600 watt amp for 7 years now, pushing a 10" sony sub in my comanche. my brother has had the same sony 1200 watt amp powering the same alpine 10" subs (two of them) in the back of his comanche for around 5 years.
I've never once had an issue. not even when I was running 6x9 off of it along with subs and using an ipod to the input with a toggle to turn it all on after my stereo was stolen.

i have a rockford fosgate pc 12 inch sub and 500 watt p3 amp. i had to take the seat off wire everything in then put the seat back on, nobody will be able to steal it! it hits hard, my roof rack doesnt so much as rattle, but the cross beams vibrate and hum. cant hear inside but just knowing that it does is annoying. when i get time...............im gonna biuld a box to house it in that little cuby hole in the rear quarter panel

I used 2 5-1/4's (full range) in the front doors, 2 6x9's in the rear hatch (full range), I used a router to open up the factory 5-1/4" holes, In the glastic panel. 1 10" sub in the passenger side rear pocket. Made a wood panel to fit, covered with Grey headliner material. left over From the headliner replacement. Which all XJ's seem to need. These look great, like the factory. I used a Pyle 1400 watt five channel amp, under the rear seat. Which gives me 250 watts each for the four speakers, and 400 watts for the sub. If you just power the sub, when the volume goes up. the sub will over power the head unit powered speakers.(Which are usually about 4x50 watts). All you will hear is the thumping. I didn't like that. I'm a white person. I also didn't want ,what little room there is in the back. Used up by the amp., and sub box. A lot less tempting to steal them, if you can't see them. then I used a Pioneer DEH P90HHD Head unit.( these come out in 2000, at the price of $1800.00, Even 9 years old their worth $400-500.) google the model number once, these things are incredible. I have had this one about 5 years. The end result is, I have 1400 watt surround sound in my XJ. And you wouldn't know it, by looking in. It's like a concert hall. Better than my house system. Which are all Bose! I've taken this to DB drags.(I've never entered it), But People where very impressed with it. I want to keep my XJ as stock looking as possible.

definitely kicker and if your looking to save space, go with a kicker L7 or L5 solobaric its a square sub that hits hard as hell and one of those hits about as hard as two regular 12's

Right now im running dual 12" pioneer premier comp series 3000watt subs in a probox with a 1000 watt kenwood amp and a alpine headunit. They beat hardd i cant keep the rear view mirror straight. I like my subs because they can beat harder to hank williams jr and show up kids with 10" subs beating to like little wayne.
