Default shackles on a 5.5 lift

With a 5.5 rub lift will I need new shocks to run 2 inch shacks and spacers? Already have a sye and extended brake lines. What about the steering? Think ill run into problems?

Its hard to understand exactly what you are wanting to do. Are you going to put a 5.5" RE lift with 2" shackles and spacers to make it 7.5"
Or 3.5" RE lift with 2" shackles and spacers to make it 5.5"

I was going to recommend a shackle relocation kit, nets about 1.5" itself and well, improves your shackle angle.

Yes, you probably will. Your tie rod ends will probably be at the end of their range of motion, maybe beyond at full flex. I have 7.5" on the front of my XJ and they were. As for shocks, you will have to determine that by taking them loose with the springs fully extended.

the re 5.5" kit already comes with shackles

not doubting your intellegence or anything, but did you install this lift yourself and are sure there arent extended shackles back there?

yeah I didn't do the lift myself and I just found out by looking back there that it already had shackles :P and thats after buying the coil spacers... should've done my homework :P I think the shackles on the rub lift are 1inch and the ones I have laying around are 2. so I'll be an 1inch higher in the front but I wonder if I make a front bumper it will weigh it down alittle to even it out. and yeah the track bar on the rubicion website said it only should be used on a 4inch to 6inch lift so I would be maxing that out. also, what about a longer trackbar bracket? would that help with the angle its going to be at?

what do you need the extra lift for?

in my opinion 5.5" is the highest practical height you can go on an xj. anything more does more harm than good

already had 2 inch shackles laying around and thought it be cool to be inches higher. and without doing any research I went out and got 2 inch spacers hmm I'll prolly install them and see how bad it effects my trackbar angle. worst comes to worst I just take them off and sell em. or figure out how to fix that angle.
