Stuck door
My passenger door is stuck closed. The outside button is broken (the plastic around the pin that opens the door broke and I cant reach the pin) and the inside handle is stuck in the open position but the door still wont open. Any ideas on how to open/fix my door?
Thanks

pull the panel off the door,it is held on by the door handle screws, and the door handle screws, the bottom is held on by plastic plugs, should be able to remove without any problem.
You can get to everything then.

My jeep is not here at the moment, kids. But you may have to work at it but I am sure you can. For sure the top you can get off.
There is no alternative because you cannot even get the fender off to get to the door bolts unless you can open the door.
The other thing is those door panels are a dime a dozen at the jy,if you had to you could cut it off, sounds exstreme but you could replace it for less than $10.

I kinda have the same problem. I got my panel off, but now i dont know how to get in there to open the door. I have an 89 cherokee 4-door. When I go to open the door there is little resistance. Its like the handles aren't catching.

If you can get the whole panel off the door try to find the mechanism that holds the door to the clasp on the door jam. Use a flathead to try and disengage it from holding the door shut. You should be able to get the mechanism from inside the door. Good luck!

sounds like to me the kid before you took them off an thought he had them back on right and it finialy just shifted into the right place where it won't open. if it's a four door, you may want to concider taking the rear door off so you can get to the latch.

I ended up getting it. I think there is something wrong with the locking mechinism, had to reach in there and turn pull the lever manually, and once i did that it opens and shuts fine. Its like the door will lock, but doesn't want to unlock. But I dont really want to screw with it today, newyears eve plans. thanks for the help. I got the door working, just not able to lock it.
