Hey guys. Well i been looking around searching the site but not really sure what my problem could be.
Sorry if this is too long, just want to make sure i get everything.
So yesterday me and a buddy pulled my old gas tank and replaced it with a new one.(hes a cherokee guy also) he was very careful replacing the pump and sending unit. We installed everything, gave the hep and oil change and filter. Primed the system and she fired right up. I drove around went and got gas then headed home. Later last night i started her up (30 degrees in ny) and let her warm up for about 15 mins. Got in and put the heap in reverse and it like stalled out...died(i moved maybe a foot backwards). so i tried starting it again...nothing. It will crank over... fuel pump turns on.. im getting no check engine light. i have pressure in the fuel rail. jeep just wont start. last time it did something like this i blew a engine control fuse under the hood in middle of town with traffic. BUT ALL FUSES ARE GOOD.
Today i checked for spark at the spark plugs and of course no spark...
im lost of what happen when i put it in reverse last night.

if it were me i would start with that , seen them act up intermittent by ether a loose connection , dirty pick up , or just by sensor malfunction ... should of asked this after i read that are you getting it from the coil ?

i had hear my injectors making noise, and my fuel pump kick on when the key is turned to "on" position. i checked fuel rail has pressure. so if im not getting spark wouldnt that be coil and or distributor???

Hey guys i took a shot in the dark today. I work at advance auto parts i picked up a coil to see if that would solve my issue and now she fires right up. But i did notice(and it only happend 2 times) but she would bog down and backfire in my air filter around 2,500 to 3,000rpm and die down. Almost sounds like spark plugs. Same issue with my last jeep i had. But other then that she ran great just wierd that it did that.

Backfiring can indicate a "lean" condition. Job #1 is to get a fuel pressure gauge, install it on the schrader valve on the fuel rail and compare your readings to factory spec.
Always be sure tuneup hardware is fresh when symptomatic. Fresh champion plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter.
