I've been collecting data on this from three Jeep XJ forums. I think I'm up to about twenty or so people that have had misfires that are directly related to Bosch plugs.

But not EVERYONE has issues. Some 4.0 engines run just fine with them. That makes it difficult to understand.

I'm a huge fan of most Bosch products myself, but because these issues are pretty well documented and always resolve themselves with a different brand of plug, I won't recommend them or install them.

I just bought a 2001 XJ that has been taken care of immensly... babied... well had a slight miss threw a P0303 misfire code. Bought new Champion 435s and pulled the old plugs. Bosch platinums.... Replaced the junk and smogged it today, perfect and it runs a TON better.

you wanna stay away from any plug that has 2 or 3 electrodes, this is what usually causes poor performance, and misfiring.. i have experienced this on several cars that Ive had complaints about misfiring and or poor performance. the electrodes get carbon stuck between them and cause it to misfire. just what Ive experienced.

I have a 2001. What model number NGK's do I need? I'm going to drop by O'riellys tomorrow and get them. Just want to make sure I get the correct ones.

I noticed on some threads some are recommending NGK's and others are recommending Champion plugs. I am just looking for a model number so I know which one to buy when I go to the parts house.
Thanks
