Default Smog... what a pain..

Ok so I failed my smog test today...

here are the results, any help is greatly appricaited!

CO(%)
MAX - .73 / .93 (15mph/25mph)
MEAS - 3.74 / 2.98


HC (PPM)
MAX - 123 / 103 (15mph/25mph)
MEAS - 207 / 194

it also Failed the Fuel EVAP test.


wow... this sucks ... any ideas?

the NO (PPM) was good.... lol

where do you live that you need to pass emissions with an 89? Califailia? Fuel evap might be a bad gas cap. other stuff might be a bad cat

i just swapped the cat with one that "should" work... but almost 5x the CO's?

yes... california... god sucks to be here with older vehicles. yea the fuel cap functional test failed so i need a new gas cap too.. so i'll swap that!

could the o2 sensor cause it to go that high?

Get a PO Box in a county that does not require smog. IE Humbolt county and most other counties up north. You can see listing in the ca DMV website.

Your running way to rich , check the O2 , then tune up , also fuel pressure regulator. Once you get fuel control back if its still to high check the Cat.
