Po432 diagnostic code
This code comes on and off occasionally. This time when it went off I had to get it smogged...so my question is, the code is described as a catalyst inefficiency...but if it goes on and off, and passed smog, would it be a bad o2 sensor instead? I'm confused...and it did pass smog...

Here is a good link to the P0432 code.
Usually the catalytic converter itself. It may be "marginal" and that is why you are seeing an intermittent check engine light.
A common misdiagnosis of this is to replace the oxygen sensor.

I've never understood that stupid CA law about cats. How about ordering the correct catalytic converter from a catalog and installing it yourself? Or going to a different state and having the work performed? You would still be 100% legal, and would save a ton of money. I paid just over $100 for an aftermarket cat recently..............

I would, but I dont know if they have the same material as the ca cats...everyone sells the cats outside of ca, but no one will ship into ca...it's a damn govt scam! Hmmm...long arm or new cat...ridiculous that they're soooo expensive.
