Default Sensor connector cleaner?

Is there a spray type cleaner you can use to spray into wire harnesses inside your engine bay that will clean out the connectors like carb cleaner and stuff?

CRC makes something called QD Electrical Contact Cleaner. I'd recommend it as it will not eat the plastic, like carb cleaner will.

Perhaps the best contact cleaner I've used is DeoxIT.

It does a super job of removing oxidation and cleaning up terminals, and leaves a thin film to keep them clean. Not the easiest stuff to find retail though.

You mean someone besides me has DeoxIT in their garage?

Great info...I once bought a car for the price of two large cans though! (ok maybe twice).

Ebay has the 5oz, (142g) can, shipped for $15. (three of those might get you a 72 Vega)

After thoroughly spraying the connector, I usually use a small dab of dielectric grease on the connector before reconnecting.

Good idea on the dielectric grease!

I would also spray, maybe brush clean the relays, then dab dielectric grease on the ends and pop em back in aswell. I did after I read a few posts about cruiser doing it, and mine were NASTY. The P.O. never did a god damn thing to this jeep with maintenance

Did you notice anything different after you cleaned stuff up?

A few tsb's have recommended against dielectric grease on sensor and PCM terminals due to the formation of non-conductive oxides. Silicone grease is great for the rubber gaskets after cleaning with CRC. I use Stabillant on problem connectors like cps, tps, cpk, cts, that operate on 5 volts or lower. Also, use it on gnarly batt terms or other high amp lugs that have the tin plating worn through to bare copper. It's not cheap but I've had the same bottle for almost 10 years.

Good information. I'm considering trying Stabilant.

Dielectric grease has traditionally been used to keep water out of connections, especially useful for Jeep owners who do water crossings, etc. Probably not necessary for the daily driver, but I have been using a VERY small amount on the mating surfaces of "most" engine management connectors after cleaning with electrical contact cleaner, and have never had any issues with it. But you should never use either of these products on an oxygen sensor connector!

Here is a good thread about this on a forum with a few guys that are more than familiar with electrons! Kind of interesting.

I think what's most important here is to at the very least, refresh the connections by cleaning with something like the CRC product.

Here's a link to napaonline for their CE-1 which I'm thinking is stabillant? Not just a little pricy.
