Default Rocker Panel Help

My Rocker Panels are totally rusted out and I want to either replace them or do something else to fix them both so they look better and so the snow and salt from the roads here in Michigan don't build up and cause more damage. Any ideas? Are the rockers part of the body/frame, or are they just bolted/mounted with plastic holders?

Please help!!

So is there anything I could do? I was thinking about grinding off the rust flush with the decent part of the rockers on the top, then doing like aluminum plating on a 45 degree angle and drilling or using self tapping screws to set that in there to at least get it looking decent and keeping the weather out of the inside.

I have the same issue, I am waiting until spring to fix it though. They sell rocker panel patches out there, just cut out the rusted section and weld or possibly rivet the patch back on. I see some other people cut the whole rocker out, and weld in 2x6 box tubing, just need to make sure it is flush and not messing with your doors. You could also buy a whole new rocker, but that sounds like a decent amount of extra work.

I'd weld in some new sheet metal.. I'm doing the same thing kind of and i'm using steel diamond plate and painting it with a rubberized coating.. looks pretty neat

Yeah, I'd weld in some sheet metal, but I don't know how to weld at all and I don't have access to a welding machine. What I did when I put in new floorboards on both sides in the front and patched up the frame in the rear is use double plated aluminum sheet metal just for a quick and decently durable fix, used self tapping screws in multitudes and used some loc-tite contractors cement to glue the metal in after the screws. But, if I did that for the rockers I'd have to bondo over those screw holes to make it look decent. Prolly going to have to redo all of that with better plating, but that's what I had to do quick and with little cash before it started snowing and throwing more water and slop up into my carpet.
