Default Reverse Light Switch

Im having an issue with my MJ 87 4.0
I'm going to add as much detail as possible.

Okay when I got my 87 MJ, the reverse ligjts were not working, when I looked under the reverse light switch had two cut wires coming out of it.

I went to the junk yard, and got a new switch and wire harness, however I connected it to those two connecters (1 at a time) but none of them gave me power, and I checked all fuses and I'm good.

I'm lost on what to do.

Well, first off, let's get one thing straight: Welcome to the forum!

Now, as to your problem, I'm confused.

Are you thinking that those two connectors go together?

Check the "trans" fuse?
